A Premier League Double: Two Clubs in Two Weeks for Star Symphony

Chelsea FC and AFC Bournemouth Drone Shows by Star Symphony Drone Shows

In the world of top-flight football, momentum is everything. For Star Symphony Drone Shows, the start of 2026 has been nothing short of a "double-winning" season. In the space of just two remarkable weeks, we took to the skies for two of the UK’s most iconic Premier League clubs, culminating in a moment that changed matchday entertainment forever.

The Chelsea Connection: Precision Behind the Scenes

Our Premier League journey kicked off with a bespoke, high-end production for Chelsea Football Club. Working on a specialised project for the Blues, Star Symphony delivered a sophisticated aerial display designed specifically for the special night.

This exclusive session allowed us to showcase the sheer artistry of our drone fleet, flawlessly weaving the iconic Chelsea identity into the night sky. It was a masterclass in how drone technology can be used to create world-class digital content and brand storytelling for global football giants, setting the stage for an incredible fortnight of top-flight action.

Planning a Premier League First

If the Chelsea project was the perfect tactical preparation, our show at the Vitality Stadium on 7 January was the history-making "Cup Final" moment.

For the first time ever at a UK Premier League match, a drone light show took flight as part of the live matchday experience. Ahead of AFC Bournemouth’s high-stakes clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Star Symphony delivered a breathtaking pre-match display in front of thousands of roaring fans and millions more watching live on Sky Sports.

This wasn't just another show; it was a genuine "world first." As the winter sun set, our fleet of illuminated drones rose above the stadium, forming massive, high-impact visuals that celebrated the Cherries' identity. For many supporters, it was their first time seeing a drone show live, marking the beginning of a new era for stadium entertainment.

Match-Fit Performance in Freezing Conditions

Delivering two major Premier League projects in just 14 days required a level of teamwork and "match fitness" usually reserved for the pitch. From the technical 3D flight mapping used for the Chelsea shoot to the rigorous safety and compliance checks required by the Premier League for the Bournemouth match, every detail had to be perfect.

The British winter also tried to play its part. Despite the freezing January temperatures, our professional-grade drones performed flawlessly. They rose smoothly into formation, delivering sharp, vibrant visuals against the crisp night sky—proving that drone displays are a reliable, year-round solution for major sporting events.

A Safer, Smarter Tactical Substitution

One of the most exciting aspects of this Premier League "double" is what it represents for the future. Drone light shows offer a safe, sustainable, and highly flexible alternative to traditional pyrotechnics.

With no flames, no fallout, and no loud bangs, they are the perfect "substitution" for clubs looking to enhance the fan experience while meeting modern environmental and safety goals. From detailed club logos and sponsorship branding to complex animations, the creative possibilities are endless.

Proud to Be Part of Football History

Andy Hubble, Chief Pilot at Star Symphony Drone Shows, reflected on the significance of the occasion:

“Flying the first ever drone light show at a Premier League match is something we’re incredibly proud of. Working with AFC Bournemouth, the Premier League and Chelsea Football Club has been a real pleasure from start to finish. Football in the UK has always embraced spectacle, and drone light shows take that to a whole new level. Seeing the fans’ reaction in the stadium made all the hard work worthwhile.”

He added:

“These shows prove that drone displays belong on the biggest stages in British sport. We’re excited about what this means for the future and we’re looking forward to bringing more unforgettable moments to top-flight football across the UK.”

Looking Ahead

The success of these two weeks marks a major milestone—not just for Star Symphony, but for live sports entertainment in the UK. As clubs, broadcasters and fans continue to look for fresh, engaging experiences, drone light shows are set to play a growing role in matchday storytelling.

For AFC Bournemouth, it was a night to remember. For the Premier League, it was a glimpse of what’s possible. And for Star Symphony Drone Shows, it was the start of a new chapter in bringing cutting-edge aerial displays to the heart of British football.

History was made on a winter’s night for Chelsea and for AFC Bournemouth, and after our Premier League double, the season is only just getting started.
